How DoctorReviews Works

NMC-checked doctor profiles + moderator-checked patient reviews + ✓ Verified Visit badges. Free for patients. Doctors cannot pay to rank or remove reviews.

What this page covers: the 4-step way to use DoctorReviews to check a doctor's ratings, verify NMC registration, read genuine patient reviews, and write your own. Use this if you have ever wondered "is this doctor really licensed?" or "are these reviews real?"

The 4 steps — from search to confident decision

1

Search

From the homepage, search by doctor name, speciality (e.g. Cardiologist) or city. You can also browse our city × speciality directories like /cardiologists-in-mumbai or /gynaecologists-in-delhi.

2

Verify NMC registration

On the doctor's profile look for the green ✓ NMC Verified badge. Their qualification, registration council and city are shown — all cross-checked with the public National Medical Commission register. Learn how the NMC verification works →

3

Read patient reviews

Scroll to the Patient Reviews section. Look for the ✓ Verified Visit badge — moderator has seen proof (prescription or bill). Read 3-5 specific reviews, not just the rating. Learn how to spot fake doctor reviews →

4

Write your review (after your visit)

After consulting the doctor, click Write a Review. Rate 1-5 stars, share specifics (diagnosis accuracy, behaviour, wait time, fees), optionally upload prescription or bill photo for the Verified Visit badge. Appears after moderation. The proof file is then permanently deleted.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check doctor ratings online in India?

On DoctorReviews.in, search the doctor by name or speciality from the homepage. The profile shows their patient rating, the number of moderator-approved reviews, sub-ratings (knowledge, wait time, cleanliness, staff), plus individual reviews with optional ✓ Verified Visit badges. Always read 3-5 specific reviews — not just the average — before deciding.

How do I check if a doctor is really NMC-registered?

Two ways: (1) On any doctor's profile on DoctorReviews.in, look for the green ✓ NMC Verified badge — profiles marked ✓ NMC Verified are cross-checked against the National Medical Commission's public register. (2) Independently, you can search the doctor's name on the NMC online register at nmc.org.in.

Is DoctorReviews.in free for patients?

Yes — 100% free for patients, with no hidden charges. We do not charge to search, read reviews, write reviews, or contact doctors. Doctors also do not pay to be listed — we add doctor profiles based on public information and mark profiles ✓ NMC Verified only after cross-checking.

How is DoctorReviews different from Practo, JustDial or Lybrate?

Key differences: (1) ✓ Verified Visit badge (a proof-backed signal for qualifying reviews); (2) NMC verification on profiles marked ✓ NMC Verified; (3) No paid placements; (4) Free for everyone; (5) Human moderation on submitted reviews.

How long does a review take to appear after I write it?

Submitted reviews go to a moderation queue where a human checks for spam, privacy violations or paid content. Most straightforward reviews can be handled quickly, but complex reviews can take longer. If you uploaded a prescription/bill for the Verified Visit badge, the moderator also confirms the doctor's name and date on the proof. After a moderation decision, the proof file is permanently deleted.

What if I'm a doctor and disagree with a review?

You can request a right of reply. Email us, we verify you are the doctor, and a moderator publishes your response underneath the review — never in place of it. It is a manual editorial process, not an automated one, so allow a few days. We only remove reviews that are defamatory (false statements of fact), breach medical privacy, are spam, or are found to be paid/competitor sabotage. Honest patient opinions stay published. Doctors cannot pay to remove reviews. Contact us via /contact.html to begin.
